William’s Memorial, and Amber gets laid!

Gloria prepares for William’s memorial service.

…..

Michael and Heather talk about Jana as he helps her with the prosecution.  Michael feels like Jana is faking her illness.  Heather warns Michael that he cannot speak to her without a lawyer present.

…..

Kevin is going over profit/loss at the coffeehouse when Amber comes by and says she needs money and a second job.  “All of God’s children need money,” Kevin quips.  Kevin tells Amber he can’t hire her because he’s going to sell the coffeehouse and is talking to a potential buyer that night.

…..

Jack thanks Neil for the dinner the other night.  He tells Neil he is planning a delayed honeymoon for him and Sharon.  He talks about all the pressure that Sharon has been feeling lately with the trial and Nick.  Neil tells Jack that he spoke to Nick regarding Sharon and respecting her new marriage.  Jack appreciates the gesture.

…..

In the breakroom, Nick tries to lure Sharon into going on a road trip with him to do the Clear Springs photo shoot.  He jokes and says they can sing along to classic rock even though she doesn’t know any words.  Sharon says it would make Jack uncomfortable, so she declines.  Nick understands and says they can just do the photo shoot locally.

 …..

Gloria arrives at the Athletic Club for the memorial in a bright red outfit with a huge flower on the neckline.  Jack is there doing some reading.  When he sees her, he comments, “Nobody told me it’s Mustang Ranch day today.”  Gloria brags that it’s couture from Belgium.  “Only six in the world, one owned by a queen!” she boasts.

“Drag queen?”  Jack snips.

Gloria goes on about her money and how much her husband loved her.  Jack tells her that a pig in a dress is still a pig.  In a huff, Gloria tells him that she rented out the entire Athletic Club for that day and orders him to get out.  Jack comments on her “garish display of alleged love”.  He says he will sit there and continue reading.

…..

Kevin talks to the buyer and calls the coffeehouse a cash cow.  Amber and Daniel are pissed that Kevin is selling the coffeehouse to help Jana and not them.  The potential buyer writes down how much he is willing to buy the coffeehouse for, saying it isn’t an offer, it’s “take it or leave it”.  Kevin looks at the amount, laughs, tears it up, and says he pays his dishwashers more than that.

…..

Paul and Maggie discuss the secret DNA test that William ran, wondering who William was protecting.  Maggie suggests it was Gloria, but Paul says it didn’t make sense.

…..

Michael opens Jana’s hospital room door.  He quietly observes Jana without her being aware.  She is creepily chanting, “Kevin, I love you” to an empty chair sitting across from her.  Michael sneaks back out.

…..

Daniel tries to ask for his job back from Nick, but Neil comes and interrupts, telling Daniel to leave because he has been terminated.  Neil informs Nick about the security breach that occurred because of Daniel’s porn addiction, and Nick agrees that Daniel should have been fired.  Later, Nick tells his stepson that he will see what he can do for Daniel regarding employment.

…..

In Neil’s office, Amber asks if she can sing at Indigo again.  Neil says absolutely not.  He doesn’t care if she was Billie Holliday and Beyonce rolled into one.  She’s bad for business.  Amber tries to save face by stopping in the doorwary on her way out and tell him she’s not a bad person.  This pisses Neil off, who throws a wad of paper and throws it across the room.  He barely misses his co-worker, whose name I forgot because it’s been awhile since I’ve seen her.  But they agree to go to the gym together where they playfully beat each other up.

…..

Amber visits Cane at the Chancellor’s estate.  He lets her in and listens to her talk.  She has a lengthy monologue about how she shoplifted a Town and Country magazine from the corner store and hid it under her Spice Girls shirt so she could be part of the cool clique, but they laughed at her.  She says she didn’t think she’d ever experience worse pain then that, but losing Cane was even worse.  She hands Cane a piece of paper that says that she will never take a penny from Cane, that his money and her money will remain separate, always.  She signed it “Amber Moore” rather than “Amber Ashby”, acknowledging their falsified marriage.  She gets on her knees and begs Cane for a second chance.  He shuts her up with a passionate kiss, and things heat up quickly.  “Is this what you want?” he repeatedly whispers in her ear.  They have sex in the Chancellor living room.  Afterwards, Cane gets dressed.  He asks a confused Amber how many men she’s slept with.  “It must be in the double digits,” he says.  “Twenty?  Thirty?  Forty?  Isn’t this what you do?  Isn’t this what you wanted?”  Amber is in tears, thinking he is being hurtful and doesn’t mean what he’s saying.  Cane goes on, “How does it feel?  How does it feel to be PLAYED by someone you think is in love with you?”  He proceeds to say he has a hot date at Indigo and he wants Amber gone when he gets back.  He said she’s not lady enough to offer her a shower before she leaves.

…..

At William’s memorial, Ji Min and Jill arrive as guests.  Ji Min offers his condolences to Gloria, saying his mother always told him, “You and your brother fight like you have the rest of your lives to make up.”  Then Ji Min tells Jill the story about how he and his brother had a falling out when his brother was put in their father’s will, and not Ji Min.  Ji Min was the oldest and felt he was entitled to it.  “Sounds like you got mad at the wrong guy,” Jill observes.

…..

Heather and Michael talk about when he went to check on Jana.  He tells her his suspicions about Jana faking her symptoms, though she’s fairly convincing.  He mentions they should put up ’round the clock surveillance.  Kevin overhears and blows up when he finds out that Michael is helping the prosecution.  At this time, Gloria delivers Williams’s eulogy.  Michael sniffs the air in confusion and asks, “What’s that smell?” as waiters spray gardenia perfume in the air.  Gloria explains that William would grow gardenias in his spare time.  After the eulogy, a furious Kevin confronts Michael and yells at him.  He blurts out that he is selling the coffeehouse to pay for Jana’s surgery.  Michael thinks that is a stupid move.  Over by the dessert table, Maggie and Paul talk about Gloria’s “eloquent” speech with straight faces.  They then sneak off to an empty banquet room to make love.  As Gloria talks to the guests and family, William (or is it a dead ringer for William, no pun intended) walks in.  When Gloria looks up and sees him, she stumbles and falls over in shock.

Kevin tries to save Jana.

Kevin finds out that Jana will have no surgery because the tumor is stabilized and her life is not in danger.  Kevin goes to his family and asks them to front the cash to pay for Jana’s surgery.  Michael laughs in his face and Gloria sneers that there is no way in hell she’s going to help someone who tried to kill her son.  He says maybe it’s the tumor that made her crazy all along.

Later, Colleen also visits Jana in the hospital.  Jana is surprised and apologizes to Colleen for the bad things Jana had done to her.  Colleen asks Jana to stay away from Kevin, but Jana says Kevin is all she has and she loves him.

…..

Devon is busy with work and his new promotion.  Neil is very proud of him and hands him a gift that he and Lily picked out.  Devon opens it, and it’s a Jack Spade bag!  Nice.

…..

Daniel finds out from Brad at the coffeehouse that he has been replaced on a project at work.

…..

Lily is at the gym lifting weights.  Colleen comes by and they talk.  Lily says she’s happy to be starting over.  She misses Daniel, but knows it’s better this way.  Colleen has lunch with Brad and says that Brad and Logan make a cute couple.  Brad asks about Kevin and Colleen says that they are just friends but she cares a lot about him.

…..

Daniel delivers mail to Neil and apologizes to him for his behavior.  Neil admits he understands from the viewpoint of an addict, but he still does not want Daniel around Lily.

Daniel runs into Lily at the elevator as he gets off and she gets on.  He asks to talk to her, but she refuses.  The elevator doors close.  Lily goes and delivers cookies to Devon and her father.

…..

Kay finds out about Kay’s engagement and is furious.  She tells Jill that Ji Min is a liar and not to be trusted.  Jill gets angry at Kay.  Later, Kay explains to Cane that as Jill’s mother, she owes Jill’s a lot for the way that she hurt Jill repeatedly in the past, and there is no way she can accept Ji Min because Ji Min will hurt Jill.  Later on, Kay tells Jill that she took Jill out of her will.

…..

Brad interrupts Neil’s meeting to tell him that there has been a serious security breach in Newman’s computer server.  Later, Neil confronts Daniel in the breakroom while Daniel is talking to Amber.  Infuriated, Neil blasts Daniel.  Apparently, a porn site that Daniel looked up opened up a package of spyware into their system that accessed many private files, which includes company passwords, bank information, and records.  Neil fires Daniel on the spot.

Where is the money?

At home, Phyllis jokes with Nick about court and the jurors.  Nick massages her shoulders.  Phyllis suggests they get away and hide out in a hotel room.  Nick tells her it would be a good idea and agrees to go with her.  Phyllis looks up hotel rooms online, excited when she finds one with a king size bed, room service, and a hot tub.  Nick acts into it, but hides and makes a secret phone call asking the person on the other end what his rights as a father are.  He wants to be able to intervene in case Phyllis takes Summer away.

Phyllis is tired of people talking about her and saying mean things about her.  Phyllis is upset when Nick says he believes what was said in court about her.  “I don’t need the support from a husband who thinks I’m guilty,” Phyllis tells Nick.  She says she will go to the hotel by herself.

…..

Lily continues to ignore Daniel’s calls.

…..

Kevin, Daniel, and Amber talk to Michael about the charges against them.  The trio continues making defensive comments and excuses for their actions, which infuriates Michael.  Michael lists the charges and penalties they are facing:

  •  illegally moving a corpse
  • criminal breaking in and entering
  • stealing money from a corpse and spending it, a Class G felony
  • $34k in fines
  • 11 years in prison (on top of other prison time)
  • paying back stolen money

Michael suggests that if any of the three of them has the money, they find it and return it immediately.  Amber admits that she felt like she was being watched when she buried the money the last time, and she had a weird interaction with Ji Min later that night.  She also mentions maybe Jill took it because she hates Amber.  Amber tries to call Cane with her gem studded cell phone.

When Daniel and Amber are gone, Michael asks Kevin if he thinks Amber has the money.  Kevin admits that while she’s not very trustworthy, he doesn’t really think she has it.

…..

Cane tells his secretary that under no circumstances is she to put phone calls through from his wife.  Amber later shows up at Jabot and Cane’s secretary covers, saying that Cane is on a conference call.  Amber doesn’t believe it, but says she’ll wait for him.  She sits in the waiting area and picks up a magazine called Dazzle.  When she looks up, she sees Jill down the hallway.

In a very embarrassing exchange, Amber desperately asks Jill if Jill found the money and took it to teach her a lesson.  Cane overhears this.  Jill is so insulted.  She tells Amber that in order for them to co-exist, she is going to forget that Amber had the audacity to ask her that.  Cane drags Amber into his office and reams into her, saying that she’s a pathetic excuse for a woman, especially after Jill paid her bail.

When Amber leaves, Cane goes to Jill and apologizes for Amber’s behavior.  Jill is surprisingly understanding and says that we can’t help who we fall in love with.

…..

Devon tells Lily that she’s being dumb about her feelings for Daniel and how many chances she’s given him.  He asks Lily, “Does a good relationship require this much work from one party?”  Devon begins to massage Lily.  Daniel stops by, and Devon gives them privacy.  Daniel wants to reconcile with Lily, but she says there is nothing to figure out.  She shows him a business card and tells him that it belongs to her divorce attorney.  She dials the number and schedules a time to draw up papers.  Daniel watches, heartbroken.  He leaves when Lily makes it clear that she never wants to talk to him again.

Later, Devon walks in and Lily tells him about her divorce.  Devon is proud of her.

…..

Lauren is at home, dressed in a sexy black dress, lighting candles over dinner.  Michael walks in and is surprised and pleased.  He and Lauren kiss passionately, but of course they are interrupted by a banging on the door.  Annoyed and extremely irritated, Michael opens the door and lets Daniel in.  Daniel barely apologizes for ruining their dinner.  Lauren goes and makes coffee.  Daniel tells Michael that Lily is filing for divorce.  He gives Michael excuses and reasons about his porn addiction, but does not admit he has a problem.  Daniel receives a call from his mother, who tells him that she is going to a hotel with Summer to get away from everything until the trial continues.  When Daniel gets off the phone, Michael tells Daniel that he can’t change for Lily.  He has to change for himself.

Things intensify as Michael tries to get Daniel to admit he has a problem.  Daniel remains defensive and evasive, until he breaks down in angry tears and admits that he needs help.

Daniel says he doesn’t feel better for admitting he has a problem.  He feels no insight except for realizing what a “loser” he is.  Michael asks him when he started getting so down on himself.

…..

In the meantime, Lauren goes to visit Phyllis.  Phyllis tells Lauren that Nick doesn’t support her the way she needs, and she wants to go to the hotel by herself because of that.  Laure convinces Phyllis that Nick should go with her.

After Lauren leaves and Nick comes back, Phyllis apologizes to Nick and says they should go away together.  Nick tells her he doesn’t want Phyllis to be alone.  Phyllis is hurt that Nick would think that she would steal Summer away.  Nick points out that the thought must have crossed her mind.

When Lauren goes home to Michael, she happily informs him that she prevented Phyllis from running away with Summer.

…..

At the Athletic Club bar, Kevin has a drink.  Moments later, Cane comes and sits at the other end of the bar.  Awkwardly, Kevin asks Cane if he has the money.  Cane is insulted.  Kevin offers to buy Cane’s drink, but Cane refuses.  Eventually they bond over having the worst girlfriend.  Kevin says that at least Amber didn’t try to BBQ Cane alive, the way Jana did to him.

…..

Kevin visits Jana in the hospital.  Jana has a picture of the two of them propped by her bedside.  She tells him that they won’t operate because her tumor has stabilized and since she doesn’t have health insurance, they won’t do the $130k procedure.  Kevin tells her that he’ll help her and he won’t let them treat her that way.

 …..

At the coffeehouse, Daniel looks at a picture of Cassie.  He talks to her picture, and tells her how humiliated he is.  He tells Cassie’s picture that he will live the life that she couldn’t.  Amber overhears and says that she will, too.

2.  Coffeehouse:  Kevin immediately calls Maggie and Paul to let them know that Bonacheck (“with ugly shoes and all” says Kevin) is the one who left the ransom note.

3.  Kidnapping site:  Bonacheck refuses the money that Cane brought because it’s marked.  He wants the money that Amber stole.  Amber tells Bonacheck to let Cane go and she will confess to everything.  Cane says he knew all along that she knew where the money was.  She claims the money is stashed in an abandoned grain siloh.

4.  Maggie and Paul are trying to track down Cane and Bonacheck.  Jill is furious when Gloria enters.  Jill says that because of her son, Kevin, Cane’s life is in danger.

5. Courtroom recess: Phyllis calls Daniel and they talk briefly before Michael asks to talk to Kevin.  Michael tells Kevin to either go to the police or come to the courtroom.  Kevin hangs up on him.  Daniel says he doesn’t want Amber hurt.

6.  At Neil’s, Devon and Neil are cooking.  Neil tells him to put more sea salt in whatever they are making. Lily comes out and says that there is no word on the kidnapping, which is good, meaning the info hasn’t leaked.  Devon asks why she’s concerned, and Lily says she can’t turn her feelings on and off.  Devon is sarcastic and says, “The guy you fell in love with, I’d say that’s ON.  The guy who got addicted to porn and stole a bunch of cash, I’d say that’s OFF.”

Lily asks about the trial as Neil separates leaves of Romaine lettuce.  They are having Jack and Sharon over for dinner.

8.  Daniel tells Bonacheck that he has the money.  Bonacheck is pissed because Amber said that she has the money.  Bonacheck puts the gun to Cane’s head.

9.  Carson et all try to escape.

10.  Lily, Sharon, etc. talk about Dru fondly: gumbo and hats.  Sharon admits she feels mortified.

11.  Michael finds out they have a new exhibit.  6 years in  prison.  Newman isn’t gonna know what’s gonna hit her.  They have documentation against Phyllis.  Nick overhears the about the kidnapping and is irritated that Phyllis isn’t telling him the story.

They try to explain.  Gloria shows up demanding what is going on with Kevin and Daniel.  Michael takes her away to calm her down.  Nick tells Phyllis he isn’t going anywhere until both the trial and what’s going on with Daniel is settled.

Phyllis says she didn’t want Nick to worry, which is why she didn’t tell him.  Nick says it’s because she didn’t want him to think badly of her son and her.

12.  Michael assures Gloria he’s helping Kevin.  Michael knows he owes Kevin for abandoning him when he was little, and that’s why he’ll always save him.

13.  Jill talks about Cane and how close she feels to him.  She says a newborn can’t see well, but that’s not true actually…

Ji Min stays and comforts Jill.

14.  Amber remembers the nail file and she uses it to uncuff Cane.  He tells her to use it inside the ratchet, not the keyhole. He unties her and they leave Carson behind, not trusting him.

15.  Bonacheck is holding Daniel at gunpoint in Kevin’s apartment.  Daniel tries to stall, saying he hid the money in the floor.  Bonacheck doesn’t believe him and threatens to paint the walls with his brains.  Just as Bonacheck is screaming at Daniel that he’s going to take him into the basement, Maggie, Paul, and a cop bust in with weapons drawn telling Bonacheck to drop his weapon.  Bonacheck does so.  The gun drops next to Daniel, who is lying on the floor.

Bonacheck is arrested, as is Daniel, who demands to talk to Michael and Amber.

16.  Cane runs into Jill’s arms.  Jill calls Amber a miserable excuse for a human being.  Amber is arrested.

17.  Gloria tells Kevin that the bad guy was caught.  Kevin is arrested.

18.  At dinner, Neil breaks down over the salad, sad about Dru and angry about Phyllis.  Sharon comforts Neil.

19.  In the courtroom, Michael shows up to represent all of them.  They are going to be charged, and the judge MIGHT set bail.

Michael says they can’t blame each other.  the second it happens, he is Kevin’s lawyer, and Kevin’s alone because blood is thicker than any substantial legal fees they can’t afford anyway.

20.  The cops go back and untie Carson, who says that he doesn’t have anything to do with Bonacheck.  Maggie doesn’t cuff him but tells him he has to still be questioned.

21.  Hysteria is in the courtroom.  Amber, Daniel, Kevin, Jill, Phyllis, Nick, and Gloria are there.

Michael argues for their bail.  Kevin is a business owner, has an executive position at Jabot, and is his brother — meaning fleeing would ruin Michael’s reputation.  Daniel is married, works at Newman, and attends the University.  Amber is new, but well known fashion designer, and is married to the son of a pillar of the community.  The judge decides to split 700,000 three ways.

Someone posted bail for Daniel.  he calls Lily.  She says, “they always say that your first love is the hardest to lose.  And now I understand why.”

Jill bails Amber out for Cane, but he doesn’t want to see her anymore.

Sharon testifies, the kidnapper is revealed!

1.  Courtroom Recess:  During court recess, a hysterical Phyllis is worried about her son and doesn’t feel like she can go back into the trial.  Michael tries to calm her down.  She calls Daniel.

2.  Daniel is with the officers talking about the hand-off when he gets the call.  Plans for a hand-off to the kidnappers go down in a Jabot office.  Paul, Bonacheck, and Maggie are there to help plan things.  Kevin talks to Paul regarding logistics.  Cane said he would make the drop.

3.  Amber tries to lockpick herself out of the closet using a dismantled hanger from the coat rack.

4.  Courtroom Recess:  Nick asks Sharon outside the courtroom if she’s nervous.  She said it would be worse if she was on trial.
“Ever see a pack of lions go after a gazelle?”  She’s worried about talking about her affair, she feels like it’s non of her business.  She said it was a bad time for their marriage and she’s glad he can’t remember it.  Nick tells her that he’ll always love and respect her.  Jack comes over.

5.  Break room:  Neil and Nikki talk about testifying.  Neil says she set the whole thing up, kicked him off the board to take his place.

6.  Courtroom Recess:  Summer visits Phyllis during court recess.  Michael says that Phyllis isn’t focusing, and if she doesn’t she’s not going to win.  Lauren says of anyone who can get her through this, it’s him.  Phyllis is thankful to Lauren for bringing Summer.

7.  Things are intense in the Jabot office regarding the hand-off. Daniel gets nervous as minutes pass.  Cane says it was his fault Amber got kidnapped anyway.  “She scams me and it’s my fault,” Daniel quips. Kevin asks if he should pick up a GCU duffel bag at a store since the ransom note asks for one.  Cane says no, he has one already, as he reads the note.  Jill thinks it’s dangerous for Cane to do the drop-off, but Ji Min assures her that he will be fine because he’ll be surrounded by cops.

“What was Amber thinking, burying all that money on the estate!” Jill whispers to Ji Min.

As Paul hands the duffel bag of money to Cane, Ji Min asks how the drop is going to work.

“I’m going to the club,” Paul says.  “You come by with the cash after an hour and I’ll watch you from there.”

Maggie continues:  “You’ve got undercover cops surrounding the GCAC.  They’re ready to move on command.”  Bonacheck will be in his hotel, Paul will be at the club, and Maggie will remain in the office.

Maggie tells Kevin and Daniel to go about their business as usual, but Daniel suggests they go to the coffee house and look at the security footage.

A worried Jill approaches Cane and tells him to call her as soon as he’s done.  Ji Min hands Cane his business card so he can be reached as well.

8.  David and Nikki run into each other in the Newman hallway.  She tells him she’s on her way to testify.  David cancels his appointments for today and says he’s going with her to the courtroom.

9.  Sharon testifies.

Heather:  Were you in New York the night of June 2nd and June 3 of 2006?
Sharon:  Yes.
H: And what was the purpose of your visit?
S: Business.
H: And was Mr. Carlton in New York as well?
S: Brad was schedule to go to Boston on business, but his flight got re-routed to New York –
Michael:  Objection.  Irrelevant.
Judge: Sustained.  Just answer the question, Mrs. Abbott.
H: Was Mr. Carlton in New York, as well?
S: Yes.
H: And you two stayed in the same hotel suite, correct?
M: Objection!  Leading the witness.
H: Your Honor, I’m simply establishing the affair that Mrs. Newman allegedly blackmailed Brad Carlton about, to verify that such an incident happened.
M: What you’re doing is testifying.
Judge: Overruled.  Answer the question.
S: We had separate rooms.
H: But that night you slept in the same room, correct?
M: Objection, she’s leading again.
H: I’ll rephrase.  Where did the two of you sleep that night?
S: We slept in the same room.
H: And did you two engage in any other activity that night?
S: Yes, we had sex.
H: You had sex…
M: Your Honor, this is not only irrelevant, this is ridiclous.
H: What was your marital status at the time?
S: I was married to someone else.
H: And Mr. Carlton?
S: He was also married.
H: And the state of your marriage at that time?
M: This is irrelevant to this proceeding.
Judge:  I will allow it for what it’s worth.
S: I just found out that my husband had an affair.
H: With the defendant?
S: Yes.
M: Objection! Counsel is leading the witness, and it hardly matters why the affair happened, only that the affair took place, which the witness has already admitted.
Judge: Sustained.

Heather asks what they had for breakfast.  Sharon doesn’t remember, so she asks Sharon to read the room service charges.

“Denver omlette, no cheese, croissants, orange juices.”

Heather asks about how Phyllis found out about the affair.  Sharon said that Phyllis told her that she overheard them talking.  Sharon also states that PHyllis threatened to tell Brad’s wife about the affair if Brad didn’t vote to have Neil Winters put on board.  However, that part is stricken from court records because it’s considered heresy.  Sharon testifies that Phyllis told her that Phyllis’s goal was to get the business project funded.

“She said if I valued my husband’s campaign and Brad’s marriage I would convince Brad to vote her way,” Sharon explains.

During recess, Nick says that it was all his fault.  “If I hadn’t been running around on my wife, Sharon never would have turned to Brad, and there’d be no trial.”  Michael tells him that nobody forced anyone to do anything, and “We’re all responsible for our actions.”

Athletic Club:  Paul radioes in to Maggie at the Jabot office where Ji Min and Jill are also.  Paul gives a brief description of the scene.  He says the cheerleading squad is there using the same duffel bag, which makes it hard.  Cane arrives, puts down the duffel bag, and leaves.

Court:  Michael brings up Cassie’s death.  He mentions that the statistics are against a couple who have lost a child, and he can understand Sharon finding solace in another man.  He asks Sharon if she’s shared an emotionally close bond with Brad for several years, and Sharon said that they are friends.  He asks Sharon if she feels that Brad would put anyone on the board who would be “bad for business”?  Sharon is unsure how to answer.

Jabot office:  Cane arrives back at the office to Jill’s relief.  They say nobody has picked the money up yet and they think something is wrong.

Closet:  Amber is still trying to get out of the closet.

Court Recess:  Phyllis says it was a bad idea to have Nick sit behind her because he’s hearing all the bad things she’s done.  Lauren tries to make her feel better by telling her that she’s doing great.  “Okay, my son is involved in a felony, my husband hates me, and I’m going to jail.  I’m doing great!” Phyllis exclaimes sarcastically.

Nick tells her he hates himself.  He had everything with her and threw it away.  She says it wasn’t his fault.  She said it was nobody’s fault.  She says he doesn’t remember what it was like.  He said that he could erase everything and go back.  He says he’ll never forgive himself.  Jack interrupts and leads Sharon away.

Nikki approaches Sharon and Sharon says she’s responsible for the nightmare of the trial.

Jabot office:  Carson is no longer in the room, he gave everyone the slip.

Closet:  Amber is still tring to get out.  When she gets out, Carson is standing there!

Court recess:  Neil arrives and Phyllis thanks him.  He says it isn’t a favor, he was subpoenaed.  She says the best defense is a good offense.

Jabot office:  Cane receives a cell phone.  Maggie asks to see it.  It rings.  Cane answers it and it is Carson.  Carson asks if he’s trying to get his wife killed.  He tells him to get in a car and drive the money over to him, no feds, no police, no private detectives.  Otherwise, Amber is on the receiving end of a 9mm.

court:  Neil testifies.  Michael asks him about his job and background.  Neil says he’s Co-CEO of Newman, and that Victor picked him for the position and that it wasn’t the first time.  He also says that his MBA is from Stanford and he graduated with top honors.

When Neil is cross-examined, Heather brings up that business qualifications are not necessary to be a Newman Board member, and she also brings up how many family members are on board.  He is also questioned about Dru’s death and the accident that occurred.

Outside the courtroom, David coaches Nikki and tells her not to reveal anything more than what the counsel asks.  Nikki runs into Neil on his way out of the courtroom.  He tells her he was questioned about Dru, and he says he hopes that Michael guts her in the courtroom.

Coffeehouse:  Kevin and Daniel are looking at surveillance footage and are making a list of people who left tips.  Ji Min is on the list.  When Carson appears, they don’t see him leave a tip.

Courtroom:  Michael asks about Nikki’s educational background.  She admits she has no bachelor’s or Master’s.  He badgers Nikki on the stand, asking her about the scandal she has brought to the company, which includes her kiss with David.  After asking several biting questions and being warned by the judge, he withdraws his question.

Coffeehouse:  Kevin and Daniel observe Carson’s tip and sees him tip a dollar.  Daniel is shocked saying he was certain Carson was teh kidnapper.

Carson arrives to find Amber AND Carson tied up together!  He gets a gun pointed at his head by Bonacheck, the federal agent!

Courtroom recess:  Michael says that Neil looked so good and Nikki looked so bad that it would have been suspicious if Brad DIDN’T vote for him.

Coffeehouse:  They see that it was Bonacheck who left the ransom note in the tip jar.

At kidnapping site:  Bonacheck asks Amber where the money is and she says she doesn’t know.  he hold a gun to Cane’s head because he doesn’t believe her.
